Article 227 Petition Maintainable Against Domestic Violence Act Proceedings: Madras High Court

The Madras High Court has held that proceedings under the Domestic Violence Act can be quashed by a petition under Article 227 of the Indian Constitution, regardless of whether the proceeding is civil or criminal in nature. The Court noted that Article 227 is ‘forum-neutral’ which draws no distinction between civil and criminal court.
